Public engineering firm profile
Alexandria, VA
The Next Generation Ship Design and Engineering Firm
Tridentis is an independent ship design and engineering practice headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, serving U.S. Navy program offices, the Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, NOAA, and commercial clients across the full ship life cycle. It offers naval architecture and multi-discipline engineering across all design phases from concept through production, as well as integrated logistics support and program office advisory services. It maintains offices near major naval installations in Virginia, Washington state, and Hawaii. Through its subsidiary Advanced Marine Vehicles, LLC, it also develops autonomous marine vehicle technologies.
Delivers comprehensive technical solutions across every phase of a vessel's life cycle. This work spans early conceptualization and trade studies through preliminary, contract, and detailed production design, integrating multiple technical disciplines.
Provides engineering support for vessels actively in service to extend operating life and maintain fleet readiness. Technical teams perform onsite assessments, update drawings, and develop installation packages for modifications and repairs.
Utilizes advanced analytical tools and computational methods to evaluate vessel performance, structural integrity, and onboard systems. These assessments validate design compliance and solve complex operational challenges.
Implements advanced digital techniques to capture existing physical environments and build high-fidelity representations. These digital models support design optimization, simulation, and lifecycle management.
Serves acquisition and life cycle sustainment teams with technical advisory and management services. Experienced personnel assist with concept development, programmatic decision-making, and tracking of defense programs.
Addresses vessel maintenance, sustainment, and supportability requirements early in the acquisition lifecycle. Work ensures that marine assets can be efficiently operated and maintained throughout their operational lifespans.
Investigates marine casualties, structural failures, and operational accidents to determine root causes. Rapid-response teams provide forensic evaluations and technical assessments following maritime incidents.
Designs and deploys advanced uncrewed surface vessels and autonomous technology platforms. Research and development efforts produce innovative marine solutions, such as ghost pot detection systems and specialized recovery mechanisms.
