Taylor Engineers is a Bay Area mechanical engineering practice with more than 30 years of specialized experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, control systems, and building commissioning. Founded in 1995 and based in Alameda, California, it delivers high-performing, energy-efficient designs for large commercial office buildings, data centers, laboratories, and performance venues. Taylor Engineers is nationally recognized for expertise in data centers, underfloor air distribution systems, optimized VAV systems, and central chilled water plants, and frequently serves as owner's representative for design/build mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection contractors. Each engineer brings hands-on contracting and commissioning experience to every project, and the practice contributes actively to ASHRAE committees, California Title 24 energy codes, and applied HVAC research.

HVAC, Plumbing + Fire Sprinkler Systems

Full design services, design/build performance specifications, design review, and investigation for HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems serving commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. Taylor Engineers is nationally recognized for expertise in data centers, underfloor air distribution systems, optimized VAV systems, and central chilled water plants.

Control System Design

Control systems design and specifications for HVAC systems, with emphasis on detailed, clear documentation that prevents contractor error. Taylor Engineers contributed to and is the primary author of ASHRAE Guideline 36 - High-Performance Sequences of Operation for HVAC Systems.

Commissioning

HVAC and building systems commissioning, both as commissioning authority on Taylor Engineers-designed projects and as independent third-party CxA for projects designed by others. The team has contributed to ASHRAE Standard 202 and the California Commissioning Collaborative.

Building Performance Analysis

Building energy simulation to inform design decisions, conduct life cycle cost analyses, and support code and LEED evaluations. Taylor Engineers applies HVAC and controls expertise to applied building research that contributes to improvements in energy codes and standards.
