Mark Smith has been with SEA, Inc. for 20 years and has accumulated 36 years of experience in heavy industrial, commercial, office, education, civic, government, and health care buildings. Mark is a hands-on engineer deeply involved in every project. In 2009, Mark led SEA, Inc.'s adoption of Building Information Modeling using Revit, and SEA has continued to improve its BIM capabilities since. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1988) and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Structures) (1995) from South Dakota State University and the University of Kansas respectively. Licensed in Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

Brian D. Welch

Principal Owner, Structural Engineer

PE, SE

Brian Welch joined SEA, Inc. in 2007 and brings 30 years of structural engineering experience to each project. His commercial work includes the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. Brian has extensive experience in steel-framed office buildings and wood-framed multi-family housing and hotels. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1994) from South Dakota State University and is licensed in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Texas, and Nebraska.

Rob D. Maher

Principal Owner, Structural Engineer

PE

Rob Maher is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 25 years of structural design experience. Rob began his career with DLR Group in Minneapolis on K-12, higher education, and justice facilities, then advanced to large-scale commercial and high-rise projects with OPUS Architects and Engineers. In 2006 he relocated to Sioux Falls, spent a year developing an agricultural building product line for Sioux Steel Company, then joined SEA, Inc. in 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1998) from South Dakota State University and is licensed in Minnesota and South Dakota.
