Robertson-Bryan, Inc. (RBI) is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm of scientists and engineers in California specializing in water and power resource planning, wastewater engineering and regulatory compliance, water quality, aquatic and terrestrial biological resources, and water resource modeling. Founded in 2000 by Stuart Robertson and Michael Bryan, RBI draws on years of proven consulting and research experience to address technical, economic, and regulatory issues simultaneously. It has built well-established relationships with resource agencies, water and irrigation districts, municipalities, and public and private organizations throughout California, and is recognized for combining sound scientific principles with innovative approaches to complex water and environmental challenges.

Wastewater Engineering and NPDES Permitting

RBI supports wastewater utility managers and regulatory agencies through NPDES permit facilitation and renewal, development of alternative discharge limits, and regional leadership in refining water quality standards. Services include permit negotiations, special studies, compliance with the Clean Water Act and California Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act.

Water Quality Consulting

Industry-leading water quality services spanning local ephemeral creek assessments to regional development of new and refined water quality standards. Projects cover water supply, wastewater, stormwater, and land development.

Aquatic and Terrestrial Biological Resources

Comprehensive biological consulting including biological assessments, habitat conservation plans, resource management plans, and CEQA/NEPA document preparation. RBI staff collectively have over 50 years of experience in managing California aquatic and terrestrial resources.

Water Resource Modeling and Management

Innovative services in groundwater and surface water resource management to assist clients in meeting objectives for water supply, environmental protection, restoration, and power generation.
