Working with the natural environment to achieve practical, long-term, water resource solutions
Rio Applied Science & Engineering (Rio ASE) is a boutique water resources science and engineering practice based in Boise, Idaho. It specializes in geomorphic and fluvial engineering, providing assessments, planning, design, permitting, and construction observation services for rivers, streams, wetlands, and floodplains. Operating on the principle that durable river solutions must work with natural geomorphic processes rather than against them, the practice intentionally limits growth to maintain high-quality service, low overhead, and competitive rates.
Evaluates watershed dynamics and ecological systems to inform restoration and planning efforts.
Applies advanced modeling to analyze water flows, sediment transport, and floodplain behavior.
Creates sustainable engineering solutions that utilize natural geomorphic processes to restore streams and floodplains.
Manages compliance processes, wetland delineations, and agency coordination for natural resource projects.
Delivers field engineering oversight and ecological monitoring to ensure successful project implementation.
Provides high-resolution mapping, spatial analysis, and detailed drafting to support river engineering designs.
Coordinates multidisciplinary teams, controls budgets, and aligns stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
