FGD Scrubber Performance Testing Program

Southeast US | Power Generation

GCI performed 16 FGD scrubber performance tests for a major utility company in the Southeast. Each program assessed seven emissions and performance guarantees including sulfur dioxide removal efficiency, particulate emissions, gypsum composition, FGD purge stream consumption, electrical power consumption, limestone consumption, and forced oxidation system performance. Multiple inlets and outlets were sampled simultaneously by 11 GCI crew members.

Sorbent Injection Efficiency Studies

Midwest US | Power Generation

GCI partnered with a large-scale air pollution control systems company to conduct sorbent injection studies at several large utilities in the Midwest. Testing measured the removal efficiency of acid gases and mercury using sorbents. Crew members executed USEPA Methods 1-4, 5/202, CTM-013, 26A, and 30B from multiple inlet and outlet locations simultaneously, while a GCI mobile laboratory provided on-site recovery and analysis of particulate, SO3, and speciated mercury samples.

Precision Flow CEMS Curve Optimization

Midwest US | Power Generation

GCI applied its proprietary Precision Flow multi-probe electronic flow measurement system to adjust CEMS curve settings on several coal-fired power plants for a major Midwest utility. By improving flow measurement accuracy and precision, the program achieved over $5 million in annual SO2 and NOx credit savings against an expenditure of less than $200,000.

Particulate Monitor Location Assessment

Northeast US | Power Generation

GCI completed testing required for particulate monitor installation for one of the Northeast's largest utility providers. Four crews tested multiple points simultaneously, sampling 16 test points in duplicate to determine stratification across six stacks. GCI completed 32 thirty-minute test runs per day, and laboratory technicians provided on-site recovery and analysis of all results.
