Overview

EarthCentric Engineering, Inc. is a Mebane, North Carolina civil engineering practice founded in 2004 by Phil Koch, PE. Licensed in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina, EarthCentric delivers site design and land development engineering for residential, commercial and institutional projects, with particular depth in grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and regulatory coordination on sites that are logistically or economically challenging to develop through conventional means.

Phil Koch

President

PE

Phil Koch graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Civil Engineering and began his career as a Construction Engineer with Hubbard Construction in Florida. He relocated to North Carolina in 1995, joined Civil Consultants in Durham, and earned his Professional Civil Engineer license in 1997. In 2004 he founded EarthCentric Engineering in Mebane, NC. He holds PE licenses in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina and specializes in grading, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control.

Tim McAvinney

Civil Designer, CAD/IT Manager

Tim McAvinney holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo. He joined Civil Consultants in 2001 and transitioned into civil design before joining EarthCentric in 2005. He manages residential, roadway and utility design using AutoCAD and Civil3D and serves as the practice's IT systems administrator.

Shawn Sidener

Office Manager

Shawn Sidener is a licensed Real Estate Broker and Notary Public who joined EarthCentric in 2006. He manages office operations and client communications, and applies his real estate background to permit applications, easement and encroachment agreements and development site data organization.
