Services
NERC Compliance Testing and Analysis
Power plant model validation test and analyses in response to NERC MOD and PRC standards applicable to generation owner/operators in North America. Covers MOD-025-2, MOD-026-1, MOD-027-1, MOD-032-1, PRC-019-2, PRC-024-3, PRC-029-1, and WECC VAR-501. Includes site-based field work, data reduction, simulation model matching, and compliance reporting.
Power System Stabilizer (PSS) Tuning and Testing
PSS design, tuning, and commissioning services including field testing to demonstrate dynamic performance improvement. Work demonstrates compliance with NERC VAR-501-WECC-3.1 requirements including frequency response, positive damping at local mode frequency, and gain settings.
Power System Modeling and Studies
Modeling, planning, design, and operation studies for interconnected power systems including generation and transmission interconnection studies, voltage stability and reactive power source studies, frequency response studies, and system restoration studies.
Industrial Captive Power Plant Island Capability Evaluation
Analysis of industrial mill electrical performance using power system planning tools (power flow, transient stability, short circuit) to evaluate and demonstrate captive power plant island capability including simulation, sensitivity analysis, and staged islanding events.
Asset Evaluation
Technical evaluation of electric power generation physical assets including review of plant maintenance regimens and equipment capability assessments, drawing on OEM experience with GE, Siemens, Eaton/Cutler-Hammer, and other major manufacturers.
Failure Analysis
Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of power generation equipment and system failures. Applies iterative investigation until a process, policy, component, or person is identified as the root cause, then collaborates with clients on practical solution strategies.
Expert Testimony
Regulatory and public hearing expert witness consultation for the electric power industry. PE-licensed team with extensive North American and international power systems practice experience.
Specialized Training
Professional training seminars in power systems studies, power system analysis software, and generator model validation testing (e.g., NERC MOD standards), tailored to client needs.
