Deepak Gidwani

Founder

Deepak Gidwani is the founder of DG Structural Engineering LLC, establishing the practice in 2010. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India and holds a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois and a Professional Engineer in several Midwestern, Southern, and Southeastern states, including the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Texas, and Arizona. He began his career working for structural engineering practices in New Delhi, India, where he established STADEA Structural Consultants. He later worked in Singapore for an Australian practice, designing major projects including an award-winning French International School complex. Since the late 1990s, he has been based in the Chicago area, working for leading structural engineering organizations before setting up DGSE. His work includes projects at the two major Chicago airports, a university building in the northern suburbs, and numerous industrial, retail, residential, and educational buildings. At DGSE, he has engineered warehouses, senior living facilities, sports facilities, religious buildings, and various other projects. He has extensive experience in precast design, particularly warehouse buildings with insulated wall panels, as well as structural peer review, damage and condition analysis, and bridge and transportation projects.

Arpita Patel

Senior Project Engineer

Arpita Patel has served as a Senior Project Engineer with DGSE since early 2021. She earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Sardar Patel University in India and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She joined DGSE after gaining over 20 years of experience designing residential, retail, industrial, and commercial buildings with other engineering practices in the Chicago area. At DGSE, she has worked on the design of several major projects, including residential buildings and animal hospitals.

Michael Bielema

Associate Engineer

S.E.

Michael Bielema has been an Associate Engineer with DGSE since 2021. He holds a Master's degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and has over 20 years of experience working on precast and other structural engineering projects with leading engineering organizations in the Chicago area.

Nora Melikian

Senior Structural Designer

Nora Melikian joined DGSE in 2021 as a Senior Structural Designer. She has many years of experience as a structural designer and drafter with leading structural design offices in California, having worked on a wide range of projects including schools, fire and police stations, and remodeling projects.
