Engineering Solutions That Power Your Bottom Line.
CoolSys Energy Design, formerly Energy Squared, is a national consulting engineering practice headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey. It provides integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, building controls, and fire protection (MEPR/FP) engineering design and analysis for both new construction and existing building remodels. Operating with more than 100 professionals across offices in New Jersey, Texas, and California, it supports commercial, industrial, retail, hospitality, mixed-use, and multifamily residential markets. As a signatory to the MEP 2040 Challenge, CoolSys Energy Design emphasizes sustainable technology, decarbonization, and energy-efficient building performance.
Provides comprehensive heating, ventilation, and air conditioning design for diverse facilities. The practice specializes in optimizing indoor air quality, managing precise humidity levels, and integrating energy-efficient upgrades for chillers, boilers, and compressors.
Delivers sophisticated power and lighting designs tailored to new construction and modernization projects. Focus areas include power distribution networks, standby power generation, and specialized studies to ensure equipment safety and code compliance.
Designs high-performance water and gas distribution systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Technical capabilities focus on water conservation, regulatory alignment, and efficient sanitary drainage solutions.
Pioneers sustainable cooling systems for commercial and industrial applications, particularly within the supermarket and cold storage sectors. Engineering expertise covers low global warming potential solutions and natural refrigerant configurations.
Engineers comprehensive safety solutions to prevent, detect, and control fire hazards. Work includes the design of fire sprinkler systems, alarm networks, and specialized hazard protections conforming to national standards.
Identifies operational savings and offsets project expenditures through detailed facility audits and program administration. Engineers help clients secure utility rebates and financial incentives for energy-efficiency upgrades.
Provides independent verification that physical systems are installed, programmed, and performing according to project specifications. Verification applies across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control architectures.
Maximizes long-term efficiency and facility performance through customized energy management strategies. Engineering includes the full layout and networking of building automation systems.
Designs co-generation facilities that simultaneously produce electricity and useful heat. This approach significantly reduces utility expenses and improves resource efficiency across industrial and commercial buildings.
Conducts advanced whole-building simulations to evaluate performance, emissions, and sustainability profiles. Analysis supports decarbonization strategies, green building certification, and the deployment of renewable technologies.
