Overview

ARC Engineering, LLC is a power and electrical engineering practice headquartered in Sheridan, Wyoming, licensed in Wyoming, North Dakota, and Montana. Founded by engineers with careers on the client side of utility and industrial operations, it brings a practical, field-tested perspective to substation design, PLC and controls upgrades, arc flash studies, and as-built documentation for municipal utilities, power generation facilities, and petroleum refineries.

Municipal Water Treatment Plant PLC Replacement

Water Supply

Phased replacement of outdated PLC hardware at a municipal water treatment plant to improve operational reliability, data visibility, and regulatory compliance. The project was executed without interrupting daily operations through a carefully sequenced installation strategy and temporary wiring configurations. Deliverables included full system modeling and hands-on staff training. The upgrade eliminated hardware no longer supported by the OEM and brought controls software to current versions.

Combined-Cycle Power Plant As-Built Documentation

Power Generation

Comprehensive as-built drawing services for a combined-cycle power plant following major equipment upgrades and system retrofits. Work covered field verification of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems including switchgear layouts, cable routing, and transformer placements. Using redline markups and site surveys, the team produced CAD-based as-built drawings reflecting all modifications from the original design. Deliverables included updated single-line diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, and revised elevations formatted for integration into the facility's asset management system, compliant with IEEE, NEC, and owner-specific standards.

Adam C. Granger

Partner

PE; BSEE, University of Wyoming

Adam earned his BSEE from the University of Wyoming in 2007 and his PE in 2011. He began his career as an engineer in training at a consulting firm in Sheridan, WY focused exclusively on utility projects, then joined an electrical utility company in 2012. He co-founded ARC Engineering LLC in 2019.

Brian P. Granger

Partner

BSEE, University of Wyoming

Brian earned his BSEE from the University of Wyoming in 2002. He worked as an engineer for a research and development firm in Sheridan, WY, then joined a mining company in 2011. He held leadership positions across multiple companies before partnering with Adam at ARC Engineering in 2022.

Philip H. Granger

Engineer Technician / Master Electrician

Wyoming Master Electrician; Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering; MSHA Certified Instructor

Philip began as an apprentice electrician in 1976, earning his Wyoming Journeyman Electrician license in 1980 and Wyoming Master Electrician license in 1981. His career spans Spring Creek Coal, Kiewit Underground, Cloud Peak Energy, and Montana-Dakota Utilities, where he earned an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering. He became an MSHA certified instructor at Cloud Peak Energy and joined ARC Engineering in 2022.

Mercer R. Granger

Engineering Intern

Mercer is pursuing his BSEE at the University of Wyoming, with anticipated graduation in spring 2026. He joined ARC Engineering as an engineering intern in 2022.
