Civil Engineering graduate of Manhattan College and licensed Professional Engineer. Johnston founded Agate Construction after starting at the Nuclear Division of Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. and then with Scientific Design, an international petrochemical Design/Build firm, before joining two area New Jersey contractors and becoming well versed in heavy highway and marine construction.

Graduate of Pennsylvania State University. Joined Agate Construction in 1992 and served in roles including project manager, estimator, and director of operations before being named President in June 2004.
