Acorn Engineering, Inc. is a Maine-based civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture firm with offices in Portland, Kingfield, and Bangor. Acorn provides site development engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, water resources engineering, environmental services, and construction administration for public and private clients throughout Maine. Civil Engineering

Site development engineering services covering site layout and design, utility design, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, and feasibility studies for residential, commercial, and municipal projects. Acorn manages permitting submissions to local municipalities, Maine DEP, Maine DOT, USACE, EPA, and other state and federal agencies.

Land Surveying

Professional land surveying services using GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and remote sensing technology. The in-house survey team, led by Professional Land Surveyor Dane Sherman, provides boundary and topographic surveys, construction layout, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, FEMA elevation certificates, hydrological surveys, and GIS services.

Landscape Architecture

Site-specific landscape design services that balance engineered and natural systems for public parks, private gardens, shorelines, and community development projects. Acorn's Landscape Studio provides site layout, hardscape design, grading and landform design, campus and facility master planning, shoreline stabilization with nature-based solutions, invasive plant management, and construction administration.

Water Resources Engineering

Stormwater design, stream and ecological restoration, floodplain analysis, and watershed planning services. Acorn engineers climate-resilient stormwater systems, designs Low Impact Development solutions, and employs hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for floodplain management. An on-staff Certified Floodplain Manager oversees FEMA LOMA/LOMR permitting and floodplain compliance.

Construction Administration

Construction phase support services coordinating between design and field teams to ensure project delivery consistent with engineered plans and specifications.
