Modified and expanded existing cell sites and constructed temporary mobile sites across Houston to accommodate the cellular traffic increase for Superbowl LI. This required close coordination with cellular carriers, the NFL, local utility companies, and municipal permitting offices.

Supported the expansion of Houston's 5G network from its inception in late 2018. Scope of work includes site feasibility studies, site design, architectural and engineering services, permitting, utility coordination, utility locating, and surveying of small cell sites in the public right-of-way.

Developed 3D topographic models and designs for lakes across Texas. The environmental impact and design models allowed construction crews to perform automated excavation using semi-autonomous heavy machinery without dedicated operators.

Co-owner and COO of 3D Design & Engineering, Patrick McNerney is a contributor to multiple 5G technology textbooks and serves as the chairman of the 5G committee for the Electronics Technology Association International (ETA). He developed the national 5G curriculum for technicians, project managers, and engineers, and serves as an instructor for the 5G certification course.
